The blue economy is witnessing a structural transformation, with maritime submersibles and autonomous underwater vessels rapidly moving from niche conservation and regeneration projects to service as core strategic defense, surveillance and survey assets.
As global reliance on ocean infrastructure deepens, submersibles are stepping to the fore. This industry vertical is hot; San Francisco counts several firms operating and manufacturing locally: Ulysses is one of the region’s newest.

Colm leads the systems, teams and operations that enable Ulysses to execute globally. He is responsible for ensuring the integrity of Ulysses product builds, deploys and operations within demanding ocean environments.
Prior to Ulysses, Colm worked in aerodynamics and performance engineering at Red Bull Racing Formula 1, contributing to development of two world championship vehicles.

Pre-registration is required for all events to help us manage venue capacity and catering. Please secure your spot online in advance via the registration link.
Events are hosted at the South Beach Yacht Club (899 Second Street, San Francisco, second level), aside Oracle Park (SF Giants stadium). The club is easily accessible via MUNI, Caltrain, local ferries and Bay Wheels bikeshare. There is ample street meter parking and pay lots nearby.
Our gatherings attract a diverse crowd, including marine and ocean tech startups, ocean science educators, coastal and estuary professionals, investors, researchers, students and educators, civic leaders and maritime enthusiasts. Guests from the Port of San Francisco office are regular attendees, as are international business travelers.
SF Blue Tech happy hour events are non-refundable, except under extra-ordinary circumstances.

Located mid-city in the heart of san francisco’s emerging blue economy zone, this second-floor venue boasts one of the best views and a relaxed vibe, loft-like space that overlooks south beach harbor. Established in 1988, the club is home to more than 500 mariner members–making it the second-largest yacht club in the city.
SF blue tech is indebted to community organizations that recognize the importance of local waterways and coastlines, and who also act. We are grateful to the board of directors and members of south beach yacht club for permitting us to host events at the club. South Beach Yacht Club is a 501(c)(4) tax-exempt nonprofit organization created to promote social welfare, civic betterment and community advocacy.
