Sejal provides strategic direction and leadership for SF Baykeeper programs and operations. She joined Baykeeper in 2002, first serving as an Equal Justice Works fellow, then as program director and in-house attorney. In these roles, Sejal guided the organization’s advocacy to reduce industrial pollution, clean up legacy mercury contamination, prevent agricultural pesticide runoff in the Bay’s Central Valley tributaries, and stop sewage and oil spills throughout the Bay watershed.
Sejal became executive director in 2015. She is co-founder of Bay Area chapter of Environmental Professionals of Color.
About Baykeeper
Baykeeper uses science, advocacy and law to hold polluters accountable and stop destructive activities throughout the Bay and its watershed. For 35 years, Baykeeper has patrolled the SF Bay, stood up to polluters and defended the bay and local communities from major threats.
Climate Resiliance
Baykeeper is helping the Bay Area prepare for the effects of climate change and sea level rise.
Stopping Polluters
Baykeeper stops polluters by enforcing the Clean Water Act, as well as numerous other laws that protect the Bay and its people.
Fish & Wildlife
Baykeeper protects the Bay’s shoreline, vibrant wetlands, and the fresh water from rivers that flow into the Bay to maintain a vital ecosystem that both people and wildlife depend on.
